AVI files in Vista won't play

So, when I try opening any uncompressed AVI files captured on Vista... it looks like they're one frame long.. just a picture.. what the heck... other times I get the dreaded error message
This is from back in February...
A post from VirtualDub confirms the bug: "I ran test the test application and can confirm that this bug occurs in Windows Vista RTM.
